AI search optimization, from the technical side
Before ChatGPT or Perplexity can mention your business, it has to read your site. On many JavaScript sites, it can't.
I handle that technical layer: crawler access, server rendering, structured data and indexing. I don't sell content packages or guaranteed AI rankings.

What the data says
There's a lot of noise about AI search. Here's what has actually been measured.
Most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript.
Vercel found that none of the major AI crawlers rendered JavaScript. Content that loads in the browser is invisible to them.
Vercel, Dec 2024ChatGPT search uses Bing's index.
If Bing hasn't indexed a page, ChatGPT is less likely to find it.
YoastRanking in the top 10 isn't required.
Only 38% of pages cited in Google's AI Overviews ranked in the top 10 for that search.
Ahrefs, via ALM CorpAI recommendations change with nearly every query.
SparkToro found that the same list of brands came back less than 1% of the time.
Search Engine JournalSo the technical basics matter, and nobody can promise you a spot in an AI answer.
What I check and fix
Crawler access
Your robots.txt, CDN and firewall rules, checked for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Some setups block them without anyone deciding to.
What each crawler actually gets
Key pages fetched the way a non-rendering crawler sees them, compared with what a browser shows.
Server rendering
If important content only appears after JavaScript runs, I move it to the server.
Bing indexing
Bing Webmaster Tools, sitemaps and IndexNow, so new pages get found quickly.
Structured data
Organization or Person, Service, Product and Article markup, matching what's visible on the page.
Pages that are easy to quote
Clear headings, the answer in the first sentence, and specific facts instead of vague claims.
One consistent identity
The same name, description and profile links across your site and the web. I list what to change, and your team updates the profiles.
What I won't sell you
llms.txt as a fix.
The data says AI tools mostly ignore it. If you want one anyway, it takes ten minutes.
Guaranteed citations.
AI answers change from one query to the next. Anyone promising a fixed spot is guessing.
AI rank tracking as proof.
A tool that asks ChatGPT the same question once a day is measuring luck as much as progress.
Mass content.
Hundreds of thin pages written for AI tools tend to hurt more than they help.
Where to start
Start with: the technical SEO audit. It checks crawler access for each AI bot, what each one sees on your key pages, structured data and Bing indexing, alongside Google.
Then the fixes: $25/hour or a fixed quote, based on the audit. The audit fee is credited toward them if you go ahead within 30 days.
AI search and Google search share most of the same foundations, so one audit covers both. If a redesign or replatform is coming, plan it with migration SEO so the new site stays readable.
Questions about AI search
Not on demand, and nobody honestly can. I can make sure AI tools can read your site and understand who you are. I can also give them clear facts to quote. That raises your chances. It doesn't guarantee a mention.
Yes. AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are other names for the same goal. I work on the technical side of it.
Mostly it's the same foundation: pages that load fast, render on the server and answer questions clearly. The differences are technical. AI crawlers don't run JavaScript, some sites block them by accident, and ChatGPT relies on Bing.
No. Ahrefs found that 97% of llms.txt files got no requests at all. It won't hurt, but it won't fix anything either.
Open your page, right-click and choose View Page Source. If your main content isn't in that HTML, most AI crawlers can't see it. The audit does this properly for every key page and every crawler.
ChatGPT search uses Bing's index as a major source, alongside OpenAI's own crawler, OAI-SearchBot. That's why Bing Webmaster Tools matters more than many site owners think.
The fixes themselves are usually quick. After that, crawlers have to revisit your pages, which can take days to weeks. Mentions in AI answers depend on more than your site, so they're slower and less predictable.
